ACCESSIBILITY COLUMBIA: MAKING HISTORY ON MAIN
Accessibility Columbia: Making History on Main is a project featuring
site-specific art installations along Columbia’s historic
Main Street between the Arcade on the south end and the Tapp’s
Building on the north.
The project is an expansion of the already successful annual Sumter
Accessibility exhibition. The Sumter project, in its seventh year,
has received statewide and international recognition.

This histo/art exhibition will attract a new, diverse group of
tourists to downtown Columbia through it's unique interweaving of
art and history. The participating artists will work in areas of
historical significance producing art that connects to and defines
Columbia's history. The project will include a series of tours and
lectures produced in collaboration with the Historic Columbia Foundation
and the Columbia Museum of Art. The history and educational components
of the exhibition will attract those tourists interested in the
history of Columbia's Main Street and the Main St. area buildings.
